Phoenix hospital in Mussafah is offering care to patients suffering from Rheumatological diseases through its new Rheumatology clinic.

The Rheumatology clinic is working as a part of multidisciplinary team with other specialties to provide the patient with the optimum care under one facility.

 Rheumatology is a subspecialty of medicine which is dealing with wide range of diseases comprising more than 100 types of diseases which affects the joints, muscles, and bones causing pain, swelling, stiffness, or deformities.

In our rheumatology clinic we offer diagnosis and management of patients complaining of rheumatological symptoms as well as chronic rheumatological patients follow up and care.

The scope of rheumatological diseases is diverse:

1) Autoimmune diseases:

  • as rheumatoid arthritis, palindromic rheumatism, Sjogren’s syndrome.
  • Spondylo arthropathies: e.g., ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis and enteropathic spondyloarthritis.
  • Connective tissue diseases: e.g., systemic lupus erythematosus, antiphospholipid syndrome, mixed connective tissue diseases, scleroderma, polymyositis and dermatomyositis.
  • Vasculitis: Wegener granulomatosis, Churg Strauss syndrome, Bechet disease and giant cell arteritis.

2) Non-autoimmune diseases:

  • Pseudogout
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Osteoarthritis & Osteoporosis.

3) Regional pain disorders: neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, ankle pain, foot or heel pain.

The clinic is also offering joint injections and aspirations when clinically indicated.
